The ANFoMAM Workshop on Geometry, conducted by Francesca Neri Macchiaverna (Asociación Tokalon -Rome- and University Roma Tre), offers one session on lines and bodily and verbal expression, which are both fundamental aspects of Elementary School teaching with crucial interactions with Geometry. We read the children’s album «Riga rossa, riga blu» by Susanna Mattiangeli, illustrated by Alice Beniero, reading aloud and tracing lines on large paper sheets. As is customary in every ANFoMAM Workshop session, immersion into the child’s world and evocation of one’s own childhood experience allows one to connect mathematics and its cultural background with its roots in the human’s body and symbolic experience.
