The ANFoMAM Workshop on Geometry, conducted by Francesca Neri Macchiaverna (Asociación Tokalon (Rome) and University Roma Tre), presents as a final activity one session inspired by the presence of Geometry in the performing arts. We listened and danced to Boléro by Maurice Ravel to synthesize the experience and reflection on the anthropological root of mathematics, discovered in the ancient history of geometric concepts. Our hands, our body experience, motion and visual perception come together around the intuition of angles, segments, circumferences, cross sections, edges. This is the somatic and poetic comprehension of shape that is present in children: discovering it in ourselves helps us discovering it in our students and connecting with them.
